Membership & Loan Eligibility
Everything you need to know about qualifying for SSCMS membership and loans — straight from our constitution.
Who Can Join SSCMS?
Membership is open to eligible individuals who meet the requirements set out in our constitution. Once admitted, you unlock savings, loan products, and voting rights.
A registration fee of ₦10,000 and share capital is required upon admission. An ID Card is issued for ₦3,000.
Special Seals WorkersMust be a member of the Special Seals organisation
Age RequirementMust be above 18 years of age
Good CharacterIndividuals of upright conduct and integrity
Application FormCompletion of the official membership application form
Committee ApprovalMust be approved by the Management Committee
Registration FeePayment of ₦10,000 registration fee plus share capital
Active for at Least 3 MonthsYou must have been an active member for a minimum of 3 months
Consistent Savings RecordRegular savings contributions with no prolonged gaps
No Outstanding DefaultMust not have any previously defaulted and unpaid loan
One Guarantor RequiredAt least one guarantor who is an active member of the Society
Loan Application SubmittedComplete and sign the official loan application form
Loan Committee ApprovalFinal approval rests with the Loan Committee
Loan Eligibility Requirements
Before applying for any loan, members must satisfy the criteria outlined in the SSCMS Loan Policy. The Loan Committee makes all final decisions on approvals.
Note: Guarantors are jointly liable if a borrower defaults. The Society may deduct amounts owed from the guarantor's savings if necessary.
How Much Can You Borrow?
Your loan limit is directly tied to your savings history. The more consistently you save, the more you can access. Final approval and exact limit is determined by the Loan Committee based on your full profile.

How to Become a Member
Submit Your Application
Complete and submit the official SSCMS membership application form. You can fill it online or collect a copy at the Society's office at Powa Complex, Police Divisional HQ, Ipakodo Ikorodu.
Management Committee Review
Your application is reviewed by the Management Committee to confirm eligibility — employment as a Special Seals worker, good character, and age above 18.
Pay Registration Fee & Share Capital
Upon approval, pay the ₦10,000 registration fee and your initial share capital subscription. An ID Card (₦3,000) will be issued to you.
Start Saving Regularly
Begin your regular savings contributions — weekly or monthly as agreed. After 3 months of consistent savings, you become eligible to apply for your first loan.
Access Loans & Member Benefits
With your savings history established, apply for Regular, Emergency, Business, or Short-Term loans. Attend meetings, vote, and participate in Society governance.
Rights & Obligations
Rights of Members
- Attend and vote at all general and annual meetings
- Access all loans and financial services offered by the Society
- Elect and be elected into any Society office
- Receive annual audit reports and financial statements
- Receive your share of surplus at year end
Obligations of Members
- Make regular savings contributions (weekly or monthly)
- Repay loans on time and comply with repayment schedule
- Respect and abide by all Society rules and decisions
- Attend meetings or provide a valid excuse for absence
- Act in good faith and avoid fraudulent conduct
